Learn a skill while using the editor. BoardCraft's guided walkthroughs point you to the right controls, wait for you to try key actions, and let you keep creating with what you made.

You do not need to complete the lessons in order. Start with Editor Overview if you are learning the workspace, or choose the skill you need for today's board.
1. Open the Walkthrough library
Open a board. Choose an existing board from Boards, or create a practice board using the Quick Start guide.
Open the Board menu. Select the board name and its arrow at the top left of the editor.
Find Help. Scroll down inside the menu if necessary, then choose Walkthrough library.
Choose a lesson. Read its description and estimated time, then select its action button. The library closes and the guide begins in the editor.

Editor Overview may also open automatically when you first use the editor. You can finish it, skip it, or return to it from the library later.
2. Choose the lesson you need
The library currently offers seven guides. The times are estimates; take longer to experiment if you like.
Guide | Time | What you will practice |
|---|---|---|
Editor Overview | About 1 minute | Find the canvas, tools, selection actions, Properties, Layers, Settings, and board controls. |
Text Styling | About 2 minutes | Add decorative text, apply a gradient, enable a stroke, and add an inner or outer shadow. |
Create a Banner | About 2 minutes | Add the highlighted banner shape, convert it into a repeating banner, and find curve, spacing, size, and Edit Tiles controls. |
Create a Border | About 2 minutes | Add the highlighted border shape, make a repeating border, and find edge toggles, spacing, size, and distance controls. |
Create a Name Tag | About 2 minutes | Add Smiling Star Name Tag from Clipart, open the Name Tag builder, and create one named tag. The guide also introduces batch creation. |
3. Follow the highlighted controls
Each guide shows a title, instructions, and your current step. On a desktop, the guide highlights the relevant part of the workspace. When the editor uses drawers, the guide brings the needed tools into view.
There are two kinds of steps:
Read and continue: read the explanation, then select Next or the named button, such as Create text or Open Export.
Try the action: follow the instruction in the highlighted area. These steps can show Complete the highlighted action to continue instead of a Next button. The guide advances when it detects the required action.

Use Back to revisit an earlier explanation. It changes the guide's step, not your design's Undo history. Use Skip guide or the close button when you want to leave the lesson.
4. Try a short lesson: Text Styling
This lesson is a useful first practice because it walks through adding an element and styling it in Properties.
Start Text Styling. Open the library and select Start or Replay beside it. Select Create text on the welcome card.
Choose a font preview. Use the Decorative text library. BoardCraft adds a new text element and continues the guide.
Apply the fill. Read the explanation of Color, Pattern, and Gradient, then select Next. When prompted, choose Gradient in Fill mode.
Add the outline and shadow. Turn on the primary Stroke, then enable either Outer Shadow or Inner Shadow when prompted.
Finish and keep editing. On the completion card, select Keep creating. Change the wording or colors, arrange the heading, and save your board.

5. Explore exports without downloading
Export Options opens the Export dialog and explains the four output choices. It does not change your board or generate a file.

Use Next to move through the formats and Finish guide at the end. To download afterward, finish or dismiss the lesson, reopen Export from the toolbar, and choose your output. The guide does not change the plan requirements for any export option.
For a fuller comparison, see Which BoardCraft Export Should I Use?
6. Understand progress and replay
The library remembers progress for your account, rather than separately for each board. You can replay a lesson on another board whenever you want to practice.
Library label | Action | What it means |
|---|---|---|
Not started | Start | You have not completed or dismissed the current guide. |
Completed | Replay | You completed the guide. You can run it again. |
Dismissed | Replay | You left before completing it. Select Replay when you are ready to try again. |
Updated guide | View update | A newer version is available since your earlier progress was recorded. |

If a guide does not advance
No Next button? Read the current instruction and perform the highlighted action. Adding regular text, selecting an existing item, or toggling a different effect may not satisfy the task.
Cannot open the library? Close any other editor dialog. Resolve an editing conflict if the editor is asking you to do so, then try the Board menu again.
Cannot use a library item? Where the lesson allows a choice, choose a font or letter set available to your account. A guide does not unlock premium content.
Lost the prompt or want a fresh attempt? Close the current guide and reopen the Walkthrough library. Replay the lesson from the beginning.
